1. Start the Registry Editor by opening the Start menu, then selecting Run.

2.Type in regedit and then click OK

3.Navigate through the registry tree to the following subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\ Memory Management

This post will teach you how to convert from FAT32 to NTFS without reinstalling windows xp. First thing you need to do is check if you are already using the NTFS file system. I know that sounds kind of them, cause why would you want to know how to convert from FAT32 to NTFS if you didn't already know that have FAT32? But base from my experience working as a Technical Support for a certain company, I'd rather be prepared. Now, back to teaching you how to convert from FAT32 to NTFS,

First thing to check is if or not you are already utilizing the NTFS file system, to do this

1. Click on the "My Computer" icon.
2. Right click on the "C:/" drive.
3. Look for the "File System" label and check if it's FAT,FAT32 or NTFS.

If it's either FAT or FAT32, then follow the next instructions to convert to NTFS

1. Click "Start" menu
2. Click "Run" and type CMD
3. type the following CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS and press enter. This may take a while and it's important that the computer be uninterrupted and virus free.

Change the default installation folder for windows xp

This pc hack involves editing the registry so be extra careful, you might also want to make a backup copy of the registry just in case.

As a default, Windows xp installs applications at the directory "c:/program files" in order to change the default installation folder of windows xp you will need first to know how to access the windows registry. Go to the "start" menu and then press "run" then type "regedit".

Then follow this path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

Look for the value named ProgramFilesDir, it will have a value of "C:\Program Files" What you need to do next is to change the value to any valid drive in your computer or laptop.
(e.g "D:\Program Files") assuming you have another drive.
